Having Visited Costa Rica, I have compiled a file of the best locations to inhabit. This rolled is by no means comprehensive or determine, it is just a checklist of all the chairs I would break when I go to Costa Rica.
La Fortuna and Surroundings Often purely termed La Fortuna, the township of La Fortuna de San Carlos is the gateway to the magnificent Arenal Volcano. From the zenith of the volcano, you can on a fair day, see the Irazu, Pos and Barva volcanoes in the vastness Botanists and gardeners will want to pay a visit to the Center for Agronomy Research and Development (CATIE), which is located 5km (3 miles) southeast of Turrialba on the road to Siquirres. This inside is one of the world's principal facilities for research into steamy agriculture.

So Much To Do In Albuquerque, New Mexico
Albuquerque, New MexicoBs largest city, was founded in 1660 with land grants to more than 100 Spanish families from the Duke of Albuquerque. Today it is one of the Jewels of the Land of Enchantment.
Three viewing sections are available to the visitor. The most popular area is Boca Negra Canyon. This area is run by the city and there is a slight admission charge, if someone is at the gate. Three trails of varying lengths of five to fifteen minutes let the visitor view hundreds of these petroglyphs. Some of the designs are the human form, shaman, various animals of the area, and geometric designs. Watch out for rattlesnakes and keep on the trails.
One mile south of the visitor center is Rinconada Canyon, which features a two and a half-mile round trip through the rocks. This trail is not paved.
Further north is Piedras Marcadas Canyon with more petroglyphs.
There is no fee at the National Monument and the hikes are self guided. Booklets about the trails and the petroglyphs can be purchased at the visitor center.
Fourteen miles north of Petroglyph National Monument is Coronado State Monument. This is located on Rte 550 just outside of Bernalillo. The State Park commemorates two important occurrences. First is the Pueblo of Kuanua, begun in the 1300s. The 1500s formed over 1,200 rooms in buildings up to four stories high. Entrance was through the roof of these adobe homes. They were used as storage areas, kitchens, and general living quarters. The building were built around open courtyards, in which were sunken kivas. The kivas served as ceremonial chambers, almost like sweathouses. Here the men could have visions and dreams. Some of the kivas were round and others square. They were decorated with many pictographs, painting on the walls, depicting the life of the people and their dependence upon the elements, especially rain. Some of these pictographs can be seen in the visitor center.
The Kuauans were both hunter-gatherers and farmers raising the three sisters (corn, beans, and squash). Located by the Rio Grande River, the site was perfect for irrigation.
In 1540 and event happened which changed the life of the Kuaua people. An army of Spanish soldiers, led by Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, encamped near Kuaua. Their purpose was to find the seven cities of gold, of which rumors abounded. Instead they commandeered the pueblo and made the Kuaua pay tribute to the Spanish Government. They had to give fifty percent of their produce to the government. The friars reeducated the natives and demanded labor from them, and eventually took the children to be raised as good Spanish Citizens. They undermined the stability of the pueblo and essentially destroyed its function.
In 1680s the Natives revolted from 100 years of oppression. Natives from many of the Pueblos in New Mexico rose up and attacked the settlers, the churches, and the soldier garrisons. They drove the Spanish back to El Paso. The settlers and ranchers did not return for twelve years. Most probably this is when the Kuaua Pueblo was abandoned.
One good aspect did emerge from the Pueblo Revolts. The Spanish policy of forced labor or poorly paid labor was changed. No longer were the Native subjected to this form of almost slave labor. This had a great effect on the treatment of the Natives in the San Antonio, Texas Missions and other missions, which were formed.
Today Coronado State Park preserves and celebrates these events. The kiva is under reconstruction. Walkways with kiosks describe the life of the pueblo and of the people. Many of the foundations are visible. The staff is very friendly and informative.
Travel east on Rte 550 and it changes into Rte 165. Drive through Placitas and up Mount Sandia. The road changes from nicely paved to gravel. It is closed in the winter because of snow and flooding water. Unfortunately, signs said the road was closed. Why go there? Up in to mountains is perhaps the oldest dated cave settlement in North America. More than 27,000 years ago man hunted the Wooly Mammoth in the Sandia Mountains. There are no human remains, but the artifacts found in the cave have been carbon dated. A small parking lot is at the ten-minute walk trailhead. This leads to Sandia Man Cave. Bring a flashlight. There are also some tight squeezes in the cave itself.
Visit the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science for a great experience. The emphasis is on the evolution of the earth and life on the planet. Great exhibits on the development of dinosaurs. Some of the movies are breath taking. The animation is top rate. Experience CA Bad Day in the CretaceousD, a video animation of a 10 K meteor which struck the earth near the Yucatan Peninsula. The crater is still there today. The resulting fires and devastation wipes out 75% of wildlife on the planet. It marked the end of the Cretaceous era. Also take a six-minute ride in the time travel machine, which takes you back 75 million years where present-day New Mexico stood. Other exhibits include gemstones, caving experiences (dry cave, wet cave, and live in a cave). Many interactive exhibits keep the visitor invested in the information. Also available at the museum for an additional fee are a planetarium and a Dynamax theater with different movies. Spend at least two hours in the museum to see the primary exhibits.
A short distance away is the Turquoise Museum. This is another little gem. This museum shows everything you ever wanted to know about turquoise. How it is formed. Where it is mined. How to tell the different qualities and value of turquoise. You will spend about one hour to see the museum. It also contains a lapidary workshop with all of the tools to cut, polish, and grade the stone. The exhibit includes stones from all over the world. When you leave the museum, the exit is into a flower shop, which is behind the turquoise store. You can purchase beautiful turquoise jewelry too.
Twenty-five miles North East is the final little gem of the day before we get to the giant gem. This is Tinkertown. This museum displays the life work of Ross J. Ward, a master carver. While we were watching television he carves a complete Western Town and a circus with a big top and a side show alley. Pushing a button animates many of the pieces. What makes Tinkertown such a pleasure is the humor Ward put into each piece. He has signs with corny sayings, people doing unusual things, and just living life in the old West. He has one display of the undertaker: CBe nice to the undertaker. He is the last one to let you downD. This is complete with horse drawn hearse and devils and angels flying in the sky. One final oddity about the museum is the surrounding walls: glass bottles held together with mortar (interesting).
Now to the Giant Gem: Sandia Crest. Sandia Crest overlooks Albuquerque at an elevation of 10,678. Albuquerque stands at 5,000 feet. There are two major ways of getting to the top. First is the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway, one of the worldBs longest ones at 2.7 miles in length. During the month of April maintenance work keeps it closed. The other way up the mountain is drive, bicycle, or hike. We chose to drive the mountain on a paved road. The road ascends almost six thousand feet within fourteen miles. The temperature in Albuquerque at that time was 79` F and 49` F at the summit with a stiff breeze. Even in late April, there was snow on the ground. Almost felt like I was back in Chicago. The views are breath taking. At the top of the mountain are a souvenir store and a small restaurant.
The old town section is quite nice. San Felipe de Neri has been the cornerstone of the plaza since 1706. Homes, shops and restaurants built around the plaza with narrow streets. In the center of the plaza is a gazebo and two replica canons from the Civil War days guard the plaza.
The Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is two blocks from old town. The museum features permanent and traveling exhibits. The permanent exhibit includes 400 years of history in the area. The temporary exhibit was on the Alvarado Hotel in Albuquerque, which was a premier Harvey House in its day.
Nearby is the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The center features a museum with Display cases for many of the different pueblos. Each one has representations of their arts and crafts and a history of the pueblo people. On weekends, in the courtyard, native dancers demonstrate some of their dances. The center has an extensive store and a restaurant.
The AAA Book says that the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque is a little gem. They are understating the fact. The zoo is a precious jewel, not to be missed. The layout is user friendly with many benches on which to rest. The animals seem to be well cared for. The landscaping is marvelous. The zoo is definitely five stars. The animals must be somewhat happy even in their confinement, because the white rhinos were putting on an adult show for us. A docent said that they had good luck with reproduction at the zoo. The lions, tigers, and other great cats were doing their cat like thing: napping. Many exhibits also include water animals. Sometimes I wondered if I was in an aquarium rather than a zoo.

5 Of The Best Lakes Of The Lake District
Bassenthwaite Lake
Derwent Water
Derwent Water is approximately 3 miles long and 1 mile wide making it the widest lake in the Lake District. The lake has a number of islands within, one of which contains Derwent Island House which is open to the public just 5 days a year. The huge Skiddaw overlooking the lake and the nearby market town of Keswick make Derwent one of the most popular lakes for visitors.

Ullswater is the second largest of all the lakes in the Lake District at approximately 9 miles long and n of a mile wide. The South African Rand replaced the british Pound, as South Africa became a republic in 1961.

The R5 coin comes in two basic versions. The old version is in silver color only, while the latest version is silver and brass colored, analogical to the 2 Euro coin.

The Capital complex was dedicated in 1966. What is striking about the building is the use of space and the numerous art works hanging from all of the walls. The artists depict the many aspects of New Mexico: natural beauty, the beauty of the indigenous people, the Spanish colonialism, and modern New Mexico with all of its diversity.

Sarah recommended a restaurant down the street called The Upper Crust Pizza Parlor, which was voted best in Santa Fe. For under $5.00 Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM you can get a large slice of pizza with one topping of your choice, a small salad, and a beverage. The pizza was delicious. I had spicy Thai dressing on my salad. It lived up to its name. The sodas we had were great. My wife chose a Way2Cool Root Beer, made in Carrizozo, NM. Outstanding!! I chose a Blue Sky Lemon Lime Soda, made with natural ingredients. Outstanding too!!
The restaurant is directly across from San Miguel Mission Church, which dates back to Spanish Colonial times and rebuilt after the 1680s Pueblo Revolt. The church is still active for the people who live in the Barrio de Analco.
Next to the restaurant stands a building which claims to be Cthe oldest house in the USAD. The house dates back to the Analco People in the 1200s, then Spanish Colonization in 1607. Today the property houses a gallery, which happened to be closed at that time.
Continue walking down the old Santa Fe Trail. It ends at La Fonda, a luxury hotel. It was part of the Harvey House Empire during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The hotel has been there since the early 1800s as reflected the hotelBs stated roots: CThe Inn at the End of the Santa Fe TrailD. La Fonda, which means inn, faces the Plaza. Some of the famous residents of the hotel were Captain William Becknell, who arrived in 1821 after a successful trading expedition from Missouri to Santa Fe opening the Santa Fe Trail and Ernie Pyle, the World War II journalist.
Directly across the street from the La Fonda Hotel on the Santa Fe Trail stands Loretto Chapel. This Gothic chapel features Cthe miraculous staircaseD. Legend states that St. Joseph came to the chapel and built it in one night. This stand-alone spiral wooden staircase has no supporting beams. The woodcarvings are intricate in design. Whoever built it was a master carpenter and wood carver. A visit to Loretto Chapel is worth a trip to Santa Fe by itself.
Surrounding the plaza are many specialty shops and a highly recommended restaurant, the Plaza Caf™, which has been in business for generations, serving local food at moderate prices. Thanks again to Sarah. Along the North side of the plaza is the Hall of Governors, closed on Mondays. Under the portico are numerous Natives selling their turquoise jewelry. They sit, waiting patiently for someone to show interest in their wares. Around the plaza are numerous food venders with local delicacies for sale.
Catty corner to the plaza is the Museum of Fine Arts with permanent and temporary exhibits. Between Palace and San Francisco Streets is Burro Alley. A bronze statue of a burdened burro guards the entrance to the alley. Next to it is Lensic Theater, in which concerts are held. On the wall of one of the buildings going back towards the Plaza along San Francisco Street stating that Billy the Kid was incarcerated there for a time awaiting trial and sentencing in Mesilla. At the East end of San Francisco Street is St. Francis Cathedral, which is surrounded by scaffolding for renovation.
Other interesting attractions in Santa Fe are the Georgia OBKeefe Museum, which features many of her works. Canyon Road has many galleries, exhibiting local artists. Going South along Cerrillos Street stands New Mexico School for the Deaf. They have a theater, in which plays are performed. North West of the city is the world famous Santa Fe Opera. Their season is in July and August at this beautiful venue set in the mountains.
Continue North on Rte 285 to Chimayo. Pilgrims have been making this trek since 1810 to The Santuario de Chimayo looking for physical and spiritual healing. Lourdes healing properties is from its water. ChimayoBs healing is from dirt found at the crucifix of Our Lord of Esquipulas. Pilgrims are instructed to rub the dirt on the parts of the body to be healed. The Church replaces to dirt, approximately twenty tons a year. The grounds are beautiful and a tributary of the Rio Grande River runs behind the property. The priest that the sanctuary is a member of the Sons of the Holy Family order. He is very friendly and personable.
The next destination is Bandelier National Monument high in the Jemez Mountains. The monument preserves to extensive ruins of the Pueblo People, who came into the region over 10,000 years ago. Adolph Bandelier traveled the area in 1880s and was shown the pueblo in the Frijoles Canyon by the natives. He wrote a novel, The Delight Makers, depicting Pueblo life before the Spanish incursion into the area. The park is named for him.
Archeological surveys record at least 3,00 sites in the Monument. An easy trail about one mile in length takes you to the Long House carved out of the volcanic rock on the cliff face. The Long House is an 800-foot stretch. Ladders lead inside the dwellings. On the cliff face are pictographs and petroglyphs, depicting faces and geometric designs. Many other ruins are below on the canyon floor.
The people were hunter-gatherers and farmers, planting corn, beans, squash and sunflowers. In the mid 1500s the people moved to different areas. The Pueblos of Cochiti, San Felipe, Santo Domingo, San Ildefonse, Santa Clara, and Zuni contribute to the preservation and interpretation of these historic sites.
All along Rte 4 you see signs that read LANL, keep out. The reason for this is Los Alamos is only a few miles away. Los Alamos was the home for The Manhattan Project during World War II. Today the major employer is the Department of Energy Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Laboratory is finding continuing uses for nuclear energy focusing on national security.
The town itself has all the amenities of a modern city with a wealthy employer. Visit the Bradbury Science Museum. It is not named for Ray, the famous science fiction author, but for Norris, the man who continued the work of the LANL after World War II.
The museum is a hands on experience about the discovery, use, misuse, and disposal of nuclear waste. Especially interesting are the movies. One tells the story of the town of Los Alamos called The Town that Never Was. The Manhattan Project was conceived in Manhattan, New York and enlisted scientists from many universities and private laboratories. Communication was marginal, if at all. The Government wanted a secret place far from either coast. Los Alamos was chosen. A private school for boys stood on the land. The government took it over and built the town. It looked more like a frontier town with muddy streets, prefab housing, and isolation. The mailing address was PO Box 1663, Santa Fe, NM. This appeared on the driver licenses and birth certificates. Top secret was the norm. After the first explosion at Trinity in White Sands, NM and after the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the town of Los Alamos was unveiled.
Two other places of interest in town are The Fuller Lodge, which served as the dining hall during the Manhattan Project, and the Los Alamos Historical Museum, which interprets life in this region.
Leaving Los Alamos, we continued on Rte 4 through the Jimez Mountains. The crest is over 9,000 feet. This opens to the Valles Caldera, a twelve-mile diameter caldera left from the volcanic eruptions over one million years ago. The caldera is grassland surrounded by forests and mountains. Continue on through Jemez Pueblo and Rte 550 East. This takes you to Bernalillo and I-25. Going north will take you back to Santa Fe and South to Albuquerque.

Archeological surveys record at least 3,00 sites in the Monument. An easy trail about one mile in length takes you to the Long House carved out of the volcanic rock on the cliff face. The Long House is an 800-foot stretch. Ladders lead inside the dwellings. On the cliff face are pictographs and petroglyphs, depicting faces and geometric designs. Many other ruins are below on the canyon floor.
The people were hunter-gatherers and farmers, planting corn, beans, squash and sunflowers. In the mid 1500s the people moved to different areas. The Pueblos of Cochiti, San Felipe, Santo Domingo, San Ildefonse, Santa Clara, and Zuni contribute to the preservation and interpretation of these historic sites.
All along Rte 4 you see signs that read LANL, keep out. The reason for this is Los Alamos is only a few miles away. Los Alamos was the home for The Manhattan Project during World War II. Today the major employer is the Department of Energy Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Laboratory is finding continuing uses for nuclear energy focusing on national security.
The town itself has all the amenities of a modern city with a wealthy employer. Visit the Bradbury Science Museum. It is not named for Ray, the famous science fiction author, but for Norris, the man who continued the work of the LANL after World War II.
The museum is a hands on experience about the discovery, use, misuse, and disposal of nuclear waste. Especially interesting are the movies. One tells the story of the town of Los Alamos called The Town that Never Was. The Manhattan Project was conceived in Manhattan, New York and enlisted scientists from many universities and private laboratories. Communication was marginal, if at all. The Government wanted a secret place far from either coast. Los Alamos was chosen. A private school for boys stood on the land. The government took it over and built the town. It looked more like a frontier town with muddy streets, prefab housing, and isolation. The mailing address was PO Box 1663, Santa Fe, NM. This appeared on the driver licenses and birth certificates. Top secret was the norm. After the first explosion at Trinity in White Sands, NM and after the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the town of Los Alamos was unveiled.
Two other places of interest in town are The Fuller Lodge, which served as the dining hall during the Manhattan Project, and the Los Alamos Historical Museum, which interprets life in this region.
Leaving Los Alamos, we continued on Rte 4 through the Jimez Mountains. The crest is over 9,000 feet. This opens to the Valles Caldera, a twelve-mile diameter caldera left from the volcanic eruptions over one million years ago. The caldera is grassland surrounded by forests and mountains. Continue on through Jemez Pueblo and Rte 550 East. This takes you to Bernalillo and I-25. Going north will take you back to Santa Fe and South to Albuquerque.

Is London Able To Satisfy Tourists?
The latest statistics show that whilst overseas visitors to London rate their visit very highly, they are not as complimentary about the cost of their hotel accommodation.
Whilst fair and good may sound acceptable, they lag behind most other aspects of the visitorBs trip to London, the notable exception being cleanliness.
Surprisingly, only 37% of overseas visitors require a hotel or bed and breakfast for their stay with the rest using friends, relatives and any other means to save money.
The survey produced some interesting results by overseas visitors:
Arrival: 71% arrive by train, 7% by air and a staggering 14% by car
Accommodation: overseas visitors costs an average of S52 per person per night
Food: visitors spend an average of S36 per day on food and drink
Travel: visitors spend and average of S16 on travel
Shopping: the average daily spend is S46
Areas: 29% visit Camden
Reason: 40% made the decision to visit because of LondonBs history and heritage
Overall the survey results are good but the Mayor needs to send a warning massage to hotels to up their customer service levels. Price issues have to some extent been rectified by the current economic climate and also ad hoc events such as Swine fever which have caused lower than expected levels of accommodation and a consequent price adjustment to entice visitors.
However there are still too many so called CcheapD hotels which have no regard for the clientBs wellbeing or satisfaction. London has no official hotel rating system. The number of stars a hotel advertises only provides a rough guide of the accommodation standard, cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service and food. The higher the number of stars then the higher the level of quality. The Managing Director of London Hotels commented C It is time that the mayor introduced a compulsory rating system so that tourists have a better conception of what they are buying without seeing. We receive too many complaints from clients who have experienced bad service or poor value for money in a London hotelC

Exploring La Havana Cuba
Cuba's identity owes a great deal to the fact that it is surrounded by sea as well as to its geographical position. It is sometimes called the "key to the gulf" because of its strategic location between North and South America at the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico, and the island has been a crossroads since the beginning of the Colonial period. As a result, the island's early population consisted of European settlers, a few native Indians who had survived struggles against invaders.
An aerial view would show the island stretching out in the Caribbean Sea and indeed covered with vegetation and patterned with rivers. Small coral reefs lie just offshore in the sparkling blue sea. In the interior, the landscape is very varied, from plains of red earth to mogotes outcrops of ViГ±ales, from desert cactus to tropical forest. Protected reserves make up 22 percent of the national territory. There are numerous species found only in Cuba, but no poisonous creatures.
Havana is a lively, colorful capital city, full of bustle and entertainment, with some explendide architectural gems from the Colonial period and beyond, and numerous other sights. The city alone is worth the trip to Cuba. Many attractions are concentrated in three quarters: Habana vieja (Old Havana), Centro Habana and Vedado. In Old Havana you are going to find some of the most wonderful architectural pieces of the 19Th century. The historic Heart of Havana, which was declared part of the "cultural heritage of humanity" by UNESCO in 1982, is the largest Colonial center in Latin America. After two centuries of neglect, restoration work is reviving the former splendour of the district. Havana Vieja is characterized by Hispanic-Andalusian architecture, vitalized by the tropical sun and lush vegetation.

An aerial view would show the island stretching out in the Caribbean Sea and indeed covered with vegetation and patterned with rivers. Small coral reefs lie just offshore in the sparkling blue sea. In the interior, the landscape is very varied, from plains of red earth to mogotes outcrops of ViГ±ales, from desert cactus to tropical forest. Protected reserves make up 22 percent of the national territory. There are numerous species found only in Cuba, but no poisonous creatures.
Havana is a lively, colorful capital city, full of bustle and entertainment, with some explendide architectural gems from the Colonial period and beyond, and numerous other sights. The city alone is worth the trip to Cuba. Many attractions are concentrated in three quarters: Habana vieja (Old Havana), Centro Habana and Vedado. In Old Havana you are going to find some of the most wonderful architectural pieces of the 19Th century. The historic Heart of Havana, which was declared part of the "cultural heritage of humanity" by UNESCO in 1982, is the largest Colonial center in Latin America. After two centuries of neglect, restoration work is reviving the former splendour of the district. Havana Vieja is characterized by Hispanic-Andalusian architecture, vitalized by the tropical sun and lush vegetation.
Time seems to stand still there but nonetheless the zone does not give the impression of being a museum.

Centro Habana has the air of impoverished aristocrat - a noble creature whose threadbare clothes belie a splendid past full of treasures. this varied quarter developed beyond the city walls (which ran parallel to present-day Avenida Belgica and Avenida de las Misiones) during 1800s and was initially built to provide houses and greenery for the citizens. Most construction took place after 1863, when the walls began to be demolished to make more land available. the work was finally completed in the 1920s and 30s when French architect Forestier landscaped the area of the Paseo del Prado, the Parque Central, the Capitol gardens and Parque de la Fraternidad.

Vedado and Plaza:
The unusual grid plan of Vedado was the design of the engineer Luis YboleГіn Bosque in 1859. it calles for pavements 2 m (6ft) wide, houses with a garden, and broad straight avenues. The name Vedado ("prohibited") arose because in the 1500s, in order to have full view of any pirates approaching, it was forbidden to built houses and street there. In the late 19Th and early 20Th century the quarter was enlarged, becoming a prestigious residential area for many of the city's leading family. Vedado has two different roles. It is Havana's modern political and cultural center, with the city's main hotels, restaurants, shops, theaters, cinemas, offices and ministries; and it is also an historic quarter with a wealth of gardens and old house with grand colonial entrances. plaza de la revoluciГіn, the venue for major celebrations, is the political center of Havana and the whole of Cuba as well as a highly symbolic place.

Ten Places To Visit In Snowdonia National Park
Snowdonia National Park or Eryri - which means place of the eagles in Welsh - covers over 830 square miles of North Wales, much of it remote moorland and mountain country. Even though the region is somewhere I've been visiting since childhood, it would be difficult to pick my favorite places in any sort of order as each have their own appeal so here I shall outline ten places that should appeal to a wide range of interests.
Still in Llanberis you may see the signs for Electric Mountain. This is a tour well worth doing. A bus takes you deep underground to the Dinorwic Underground Power Station. This is a pump storage hydro electric plant which is supplied from a reservoir on the mountain high above. Water is pumped up to the reservoir at times of low electricity usage and at times of sudden high demand, the plant can be operational in minutes to boost the National Grid. It's a fascinating tour and the tunnels are wide enough to get a bus through so they're OK for people (like me) who don't do narrow spaces! OK that one was a bit of a cheat as it's just outside the National Park boundary.
For number three we'll go northwards to the Ogwen Valley. The Ogwen is a hiker's paradise and one of my own favorites in Snowdonia. The valley along with its lake Llyn Ogwen is situated 1000 feet above sea level between the 3000 foot peaks of the Glyderau and Carneddau mountains.The area has a much remoter feel than the Llanberis valley and is free from any commercial development. The Ogwen Valley is dominated by the fang like peak of Tryfan which is reputedly the only mountain in England and Wales requiring the hiker to use his or her hands to reach the summit by the easiest route. No doubt someone will prove this wrong but it is a challenging ascent. An easier walk from here is to the atmospheric tarn of Llyn Idwal set in a rocky cirque of the mountains or to lose the crowds completely head to the north side of the valley and the less visited Carneddau Range.
On the far side of the Carneddau at the northern edge of Snowdonia National Park lies Aber Falls. A spectacular cascade 200 feet in height and the second highest falls in Wales, drops into a wooded valley from the plateau above. Aber Falls is reached from the north coast road the A55 which you leave at Abergwyngregyn just west of Llanfairfechan. The way to the Falls follows a narrow lane after the village to a car park, then an easy walk along the valley floor through the woods to the area below the falls themselves.
Another of the most popular destinations in Snowdonia is the village of Betws y Coed on the eastern side of the national park. In contrast to the Ogwen Valley Betws y Coed has shops, hotels and a railway station and is liable to become very busy in high season. It is somewhat smaller than Llanberis and lies in a picturesque location in a river valley surrounded by wooded hills and is as much a centre for fishing as hiking. The well known and much visited Swallow Falls is situated a couple of miles up the valley to the West of here.
So where then for number six? Southwest of Betws y Coed along the A470 lies one of the most spectacularly located castles in Wales. Dolwyddelan is not a particularly large castle but it stands on a steep craggy hill overlooking the upper reaches of a pastoral and seemingly forgotten valley overlooked by the peak of Moel Siabod. The castle dates from the 13th century and walking up to its square keep on a day when the mist clings to the hills and the wind sighs in the trees it is not difficult to imagine this place in days of old.
Still on a historical note, to the South of Snowdon by the Afon Glaslyn river lies the village of Beddgelert. Welsh legend has it that on his return from a hunting trip, Prince Llewelyn the Great in a fit of anger, killed his faithful dog Gelert believing the animal had killed his son. He immediately found the boy alive and well nearby - along with the body of a wolf. Gelert had fought and killed the wolf to save the boy. Such was the Prince's remorse that he was said never to have smiled again and he buried the dog nearby. The tombstone can be seen today in Beddgelert which means Gelert's Grave. Whether you believe this rather tragic legend or not, Beddgelert's tourism site declares it to be undoubtedly Snowdonia's loveliest village - I would agree. Beddgelert is a small cluster of stone houses by the river, watched over by the towering Moel Hebog and surrounded by some of the most
outstanding natural scenery in Wales.
For the eighth place to visit, we may want a bike. Coed y Brenin has one of the most extensive networks of mountain bike trails in the UK set in around 9000 acres of Forestry Commission land. The trails vary in standard from family to technical, and thread their way through some remote hills and forests with views south towards Cader Idris. This area is particularly beautiful and even if you're not into mountain biking it offers good walking trails or the opportunity to chill out in peaceful surroundings. Coed y Brenin is situated 7 or 8 miles north of Dolgellau which is the nearest town of any size.
Still with a cycling theme, the penultimate destination is the Mawddach Trail which is part of the National Cycle Network and follows the south shore of the Mawddach Estuary. It's a sheltered and wooded route and is flat in contrast to the Coed y Brenin trails. Sections of the Mawddach Trail make equally good walks and the full route is in fact one of the best low level walks in the UK, visiting some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Wales. There are also opportunities here to observe wading birds and more information for bird watchers can be found at the nearby RSPB Bird Life Centre.
Finally we'll head to the East of Snowdonia to Bala by the shore of Llyn Tegid or Bala Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales and a popular centre for sailing. The town of Bala, though lively in summer, lacks the blatant commercialisation of some of the coastal resorts and has several hotels and a number of campsites nearby. You can take the Bala Lake Railway along the lake shore to Llanuwchllyn just beyond the Lake's southern end or head out of the town to find countless quiet lanes leading through rural pastures and woodlands. For a wilderness feel, paths lead from nearby Llyn Celyn into some remote mountain country including the little frequented summit of Arenig Fawr. Well - as promised - there's 10 places to see in Snowdonia National Park. As for the 100 I've not mentioned - I've not seen them all myself yet.

It is also hoped that visitors will walk away having learned of the knowledge of the Vedas, the Gita and the Bhagwatam, as well as the process of divine love consciousness, the energy Hindus believe unites one manBs soul with the Supreme God.

History Of Bergen County, New Jersey
Bergen County happens to be the most densely populated county in the New Jersey state of the United States. Considered as a part of New York Metropolitan Area, it ranks eighteenth among the highest income counties of United States. The county seat for Bergen County is Hackensack.
The initial settlement attempts that were made by Dutch people included Pavonia (1633), Achter Col (1642) and Vriessendael (1640), but all these were strongly repelled in the 1643- 1645 KieftBs war and in the 1655- 1660 Peach Tree War.
While the Anglo Dutch War II, 1664, was going on, New Amsterdam has surrendered itself to English Navy. The New Jersey Province was formed then in the year of 1674. Bergen was later included in judicial district along with Essex, Middlesex counties and Monmouth in 1679. It was only by 1683, that Bergen with three more counties was recognized by Provincial Assembly officially as independent counties.
In the beginning, Bergen County comprised of just land between Hackensack and Hudson rivers that extended northwards to the borders lying between New York and East Jersey. These boundaries were later extended in January 1709 for including all current territories of the Hudson county and some portions of the Passaic County.
Bergen County has seen several battles along with various troop movements in its history during the war of American revolutionary. The Battle of Fort Lee also took place in 1776 to keep up the attempts of continental army in keeping British forces away from Hudson River. As a result of continentals, there was a Baylor Massacre that occurred in the year of 1778 in the River Vale.
In the year of 1837, the Passaic County got formed from the parts of Essex and Bergen counties. Hudson County saw its formation in 1840 from Bergen itself. By the year of 1852, the Erie Railroads began operating the major rail service from the Jersey City (over Hudson River) to points West and North through the leased right- of- way in Bergen. This was called Erie Main Line that continues to be used in the present times as well. By the later half of the nineteenth century, the state law got changed for allowing easy municipality formation with the governmentBs Borough Form. In very few years this led to the formation of many municipalities.

Looking for an exciting place to travel to this summer? My family and I decided to visit a few holiday parks last vacation season in the beautiful country of Wales. We couldn't have asked for a more scenic and relaxing trip. We stopped to see its historical castles, celebrated at some local festivals and strolled along beautiful coastlines. There are exciting activities for families of all sizes in Wales.
One of the reasons we chose to stay in holiday lodges at Wales is because of the three different coasts. My family simply loves the beach and breathing in the fresh coastal air. The National Park in Pembrokeshire is probably one of the best places for holiday parks in the entire world with its superb scenery of green hills and mountains. My advice when you are traveling through Wales is to enjoy as much of this beautiful land as you possibly can.
As you make your way to your holiday homes, stop to see the sunset at Cregennen. This is inspirational setting instantly takes you to a place of inner peace and tranquility. Did you know that the great writer Charles Darwin reportedly spent many nights along this very same bay? How Do You Like The Color Of Your Sand: White, Black, Or Reddish?
How do you like the color of your sand: white, black, or reddish? You can find all three within sixty miles of each other. From White Sands National Monument just South of Alamogordo, New Mexico to the Valley of Fires just West of Carrizozo, and Tularosa in between, you can have it all in one day.
Sixty miles to the North are the black lava deposits at The Valley of the Fires Recreation Area. The lava flowed up through as fissure in the earth at Little Black Peak and flowed South between 1,500 and 5,000 years ago. A nature trail winds through the lava fields. For the more adventurous you can hike on the lava flow and even hike to Little Black Peak. Wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water. You are still in the Chihuahua Desert. The lava covers over 125 square miles and reaches a depth of 160 feet. Flora and fauna abound in the now cooled lava. Day fees are collected at the gate along with RV and tent camping fees. The fees help the Bureau of Land Management improve the facilities at the recreation area.
The area around Carrizozo is Billy the Kid territory and the Lincoln County Range Wars in the 1870s. Before that ancient peoples carved petroglyphs in the lava. They gave way to the Mescalero Apaches.
Forty miles to the South of Carrizozo and seventeen miles North of Tularosa stand fifty-foot mounds strewn with many rocks. This site must have had special religious significance to the ancient people who lived in the Tularosa Basin. They carved over 21,000 drawings onto these rocks. Mask sunbursts, circles, animal depictions, shaman designs, handprints, and geometric designs. A one-mile round trip takes you to the cluster of petroglyphs. A trail guide describes the location of eleven different stops along the way. The trail rises fifty feet and has numerous stairs of rock and earth. The Bureau of Land Management operates the Three Rivers petroglyphs Site. The daily fees and camping fees help support this unique site.
These rock carvings were made by a group of prehistoric Natives whom archeologists call Jornada Mogollon. The petroglyphs were made in different ways. Some were just scratched into the patina of the rocks. Using two rocks as a hammer and chisel formed others. The petroglyphs are very fragile and need to be respected. We do not know why they were made. But they do sum up a way of life among the people. They were very religious and had a close connection with nature. This is left behind in their stunning artwork.
Back to Alamogordo. Because of all of the missile work done at White Sands and Holloman AFB, Alamogordo has its own space museum. Not as elaborate as the Space Museum in Hutchinson, Kansas, this one does stand on its own. It delves into the space station, the shuttle, and early space exploration honoring many men and women who have contributed to the program. The best exhibit is outside the museum. It is the Daisy track decelerator, which tested to G force of sudden deceleration. Fascinating!

Take, for example, Bike MS: Border Bash, a two-day, two-state, 150-mile cycling event that raises money to fund research to find a cure for multiple sclerosis. Bikers will find this a thrill and a challenge as they ride a course that takes them through two states, beginning and ending at the premier resort The Wharf. The fully supported course means riders of any skill level can be sure to have a safe yet challenging experience. Along the way, riders can marvel at the spectacular scenery, including views of the Intercoastal Waterway, beaches and the native flora and fauna that will be springing to life as May begins.
Supporters who come can spend their time enjoying the amenities provided by The Wharf, such as shops, restaurants, a movie theater and an amphitheater. Additionally, hundreds of boutiques and eateries are located along the 150-mile course.
Some who come to the Gulf Coast will be supporters of entire teams, and those teams will be comprised of children or perhaps grandchildren representing their schools. Wenceslas Square is known as Vaclavske Namesti to the Czechs and it is considered to be the center of town. This large boulevard is home to a large number of shops, department stores, restaurants and nightlife venues. There are a number of metro stations located at Wenceslas Square including the Museum metro station and the Mustek metro station. If you would like to visit an excellent museum in Prague then you should visit the Czech National Museum which is located along the north side of Wenceslas Square.
Prague Castle
One of the most popular Prague tourist attractions is the Prague Castle which is known to local residents as Hradcany. This magnificent castle has been the home of Czech and Bohemian kinds for many centuries and currently holds the office of the Czech president. The Prague Castle is the largest European castle of its type and it houses a number of important historic Prague buildings including for example the St. Georges Basilica and the Saint Vitus Cathedral.
