To travel to Argentina, Chile and throughout South America without experiencing the natural beauty of the Patagonia is a shame. Of course, since this part of the world has so much to offer the adventurous traveler, completing a checklist of Amust-doB items is nearly impossible. Un-decisive travelers should note that the fact that many local or at least familiar with the area would place the Patagonia on the top of the list of must-see places.
What to See in the Patagonia
Los Glaciers National Park
Year-round, tourists enjoy the surrounding scenery which includes mountains, lakes, forestry and of course, glaciers. Among the most notable glaciers visited in the park is Glaciar Perito Moreno. This glacier is considered to be quite active due to the forward and backward movements that the glacier seems to make. Guests come to see the amazing icefalls that this glacier seems to produce on a fairly regular basis.
El Chalten
Adventure seekers also enjoy trekking and climbing the granite peaks of Monte Fitz Roy and Mt. Torre both of which are located toward the Northern section of the park. Guided trekking tours are available but the greatest treks are reserved for professionals who go it alone. Regardless, the breathtaking scenery leaves a permanent impression on the eyes of all who experience it.
Lago Puelo
Nestled in the Andes Mountains, this picture perfect lake is surrounded by mountains and rain forest. With about 20,000 visitors per year, Lago Puelo is a popular tourist destination in the summer months offering world-class fishing and hiking opportunities. The scenic, peaceful atmosphere makes for a relaxing vacation in this mountain paradise.
Experiencing the Patagonia is something not experience by very many not familiar with the region. ItBs well worth the time and energy to become familiar and experience this, one of the most geographically diverse regions on the plant.
